AEROMEC was awarded by the Portuguese Air Force (PTAF) to perform the full glass cockpit modernization of the Dassault Falcon 50 fleet

 

AEROMEC will perform the avionics upgrade on the three Dassault Falcon 50 aircraft from the PTAF.

The chosen solution based on Universal Avionics equipment (an Elbit Systems Company) will meet the latest SESAR requirements, offering the most advanced industry technologies, including: EGNOS (SBAS), Required Navigation Performance (RNP), Precision-Area Navigation (P-RNAV), LPV capabilities, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B), the Future Air Navigation System (FANS) and the Link 2000+ Programme.

The full glass cockpit package solution will comprise:

Four EFI-1040 Advanced Flight Displays

o  the latest technology LCD flat panel displays, which offers superior sunlight readability, higher resolution and wider viewing angles;

Dual UNS-1Fw SBAS-Flight Management System

o   with its integral GPS/SBAS receiver, provides increased satellite availability, reliability and integrity for GPS and SBAS navigation, being compatible with Europe (EGNOS), USA (WAAS) and Japan (MSAS);

UniLink UL-801 Communications Management System

o   digital communications between the pilot and Air Traffic Controller in the exceedingly complex Communication, Navigation, Surveillance (CNS) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) environment, full compliance with DO-178B Level C guidelines and FANS 1/A+ standards, UniLink will accommodate the expansion of datalink services into CPDLC;

Iridium Satellite Data Unit

o   satellite connectivity for the Future Air Navigation Systems (FANS 1/A+) and supporting CPDLC;

Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Record (CVFDR), TCAS II Upgrade, ADS-B Out, Solid-State Data Transfer Unit (SSDTU), Electronic Flight Bags (EFB), Entertainment System.

The President of AEROMEC, Mr. Rui de Almeida, stated: “this is a very important achievement for AEROMEC, preparing the Company to be Certified EASA Part 21 Subpart J in 2020.  Other Programs are already scheduled such as the modernization of OMNI Aviation Falcon 900B and the Learjet fleet but also ADS-B Out modifications for other Customers.”
